The Elder Scrolls 6: 9 Fan Theories That Must Come True
1. 2020 Release Date On Next-Gen Consoles
The announcement of The Elder Scrolls VI was one of the most peculiar in Bethesda's history. After years spent changing the topic every time the game was brought up and insisting that they preferred to only announce new projects when they were on the verge of releasing, Todd Howard came out at E3 and announced not one, but two major RPGs the studio are working on.
Likewise, the studio head reiterated that these would be "next-gen" experiences, with Starfield coming out first, followed by TES VI. Considering the scope of Bethesda's projects that could indicate that the latter won't release for potentially half a decade yet, but it could actually be sooner than you think.
Not only is it unlike the publisher to keep players on the hook for that long, but Bethesda Game Studios now comprises of three large teams, each capable of working on multiple projects.
Consequently, while full production on The Elder Scrolls VI won't be underway until Starfield is shipped, that doesn't mean one team won't be working on it from now until then, hopefully enabling a shorter development time than fans are used to, potentially even in time for a next-gen release around 2020.
