The Elder Scrolls 6: 9 Fan Theories That Must Come True
9. No More Voiced Protagonists
While Fallout 4 released nearly three years ago, discussion hasn't really faded over how much it was dogged by Bethesda's decision to make the protagonist fully voiced. Though the feature has never been included in an Elder Scrolls title so far, there was worry that it could show up in the next game in that franchise.
Although voiced protagonists have been done well in similar releases, limiting dialogue options to a couple of lines rather than the more expansive and divergent text of previous titles undoubtedly harmed the potential for actual role-playing, a problem which would only be compounded in the Elder Scrolls' more populated sandboxes.
Fortunately there have been rumblings that Bethesda have learned from their mistakes and going forward will look to give players an option to choose between a voiced protagonist and the regular text responses. Whether that system will work out is set to be seen, but at least it's a step in the right direction.
