The Elder Scrolls VI: 10 Skyrim Mods That Must Be Included
8. Equipping Weapons Overhaul
Something that was off putting when it came to Skyrim was the way weaponry was equipped on your character. You could have one weapon on your person and a sheathe of either arrows or bolts. While not seeming like a drastic problem, it ruined immersion when you had an axe equipped and suddenly pulled a greatsword out of nowhere when you changed weapons.
With the Equipping Overhaul, the player could equip a weapon of each type on their person, making it so that switching between weapons was less clunky and looked a lot more natural. Also included in the mod was a unique mechanic: When swapping between weapons mid combat, instead of sheathing your weapon to swap, you would drop it, coming from the idea that in the heat of battle, you would have time to stow your weapons away and would instead opt for tossing them to the ground.
While the latter mechanic could be problematic, Bethesda must include the ability to have multiple weapons on your body. Not only does it improve immersion, it just looks so much cooler than having one weapon. It wouldn’t even take that much effort. A little work to make the animations smoother and toggling the equip restrictions would be all it takes to add that little boost to immersion that so many players crave.
