The Elder Scrolls VI: 10 Things Bethesda Can't Afford To Get Wrong

2. The Combat System

This has been one of the most common criticisms of past Elder Scrolls game, but the combat system really does need some work. I tend to play the games using archery just to avoid the repetitiveness of the swordplay, which can be boiled down to simply hitting things constantly until they fall down. You might think that upgrading your skill level in either one-handed or two-handed weapons would improve things, but it doesn€™t. I€™m not suggesting that Elder Scrolls VI simply copy the Witcher 3 (mainly because the Witcher€™s combat system wouldn€™t translate to a first-person game), but something needs to be done to provide some nuance to the swordplay. Otherwise, TES VI just won€™t be able to compete with current generation RPGs that have successfully managed strike a balance between story and gameplay.
