7. LM - Alvaro Recoba (Pro Evolution Soccer 5)
Mercurial, unpredictable and devastating when he is on form. Few players could enrapture and enrage fans quite like Alvaro Recoba. A player who was so gifted, he at times managed to overshadow a prime Ronaldo. And no, this isn't the video game version we're talking about. He really was that good, at least when he chose to be.
Recoba was a lot like his video game self, capable of ridiculous feats of skill. He could do things with his left foot that would make fans doubt their perceptions of reality. An excellent dribbler, passer and finisher, few in the world could match him on a good day. Infuriatingly though, Recoba had a tendency to blow hot and cold. For all of his unmatched ability, he was utterly incapable of delivering week in, week out.
The product of Seabass' love for Inter Milan, PES 5's Recoba had a similar ability to destroy opposition defenses at will. Almost impossible to dispossess, and able to score from practically anywhere, he was a dream to play with, and a nightmare to play against. In Master League, he would be an invaluable player, as one could negate his erratic form with careful management and lots of nurturing.
