The Last Of Us 2: 9 Details You Totally Missed From E3

7. New Enemy Archetypes

During the combat segment of the gameplay, you may have noticed Ellie gets quite the beating from her enemies. The enemy that seems to put up the biggest fight is the man at the end, with one huge hammer with which he wails on Ellie big time.

Well believe it or not, this guy is actually a good indicator of a new enemy archetype within the game.

If you'll recall in the first game there was only one human archetype, alongside a variety of infected. We had bloaters, clickers, hunters and the like, but the humans were just humans. Some had melee weapons, the rest had guns, but they were all able to be killed in the same fashion.

The guy with the hammer, however, seems impervious to Ellie's attempts at melee attacks, and so has to shoot the guy with a few arrows to overcome him. This suggests that the human enemies in the game now force the player to have to come up with different ways to take down specific enemies unlike the first game, providing a more challenging and engaging combat system.
