The Last Of Us 3: 10 Things We DON'T Want To See
8. Gimmicky Infected
Naughty Dog must be very careful in introducing new infected. If they are going to introduce new enemies to an established world then they must make sure their lore is watertight. If not, then their random addition can seem jarring.
Between Runners, Stalkers, Clickers and Bloaters, The Last of Us already offered a great variety of terrifying infected for Joel and Ellie to take on, each with their own identifiable traits.
The sequel introduced the Shambler. Whilst basically a Bloater that can see, you will often find two or three in one location. They are still extremely susceptible to fire and much weaker than their stage-four counterparts, but with the added ability to climb over obstacles, they can be formidable when faced in packs.
It seems a stretch that it took Ellie 19 years to encounter one, with Dina and Ellie openly admitting that they had never seen one of those before.
The Rat King is a fantastic addition as a boss, but let's not push the special infected boat out too far. This isn't Left 4 Dead.
