The Legend Of Zelda: 10 Most Disappointing Boss Battles

2. Smog - Oracle Of Ages

Conceptually, the strategy to defeat Smog in Oracle of Ages is one of cleverest ideas in any Legend of Zelda game. As the battle starts, Smog will split into multiple clouds.

You cannot injure him unless the pieces fuse back into one. To maintain his invulnerability, Smog will do everything in his power to keep its pieces apart.

You need to use the Cane of Somaria to forge blocks to divert the pieces' direction, forcing them to merge. This is an astoundingly creative way to fight a boss, which is all the more impressive considering the limitations of the gaming system it's on, the Game Boy.

Unfortunately, it's so difficult to predict which direction the pieces move in, a lot of this battle relies on guesswork. Also, if you accidentally use the cane on a block, it disappears, which can jeopardise the path you are trying to create.

There is also a switch you can step on to reset the blocks in the room. However, Smog can knock you into this switch, undoing all your hard work. As the battle progress, there are more blocks and more pieces, making the fight more unpredictable and tedious.
