The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening Remake - 10 Things We Can't Wait To See
9. Deliberate Glitches
Fitting an entire Legend of Zelda adventure onto a handheld console was a pretty impressive feat of programming back in 1993. That technical achievement didn’t come without a handful of mistakes though.
Various in-game glitches allowed players to walk through walls or even warp from one part the game to another. Hell, you could pick up items in the shop at a discount with the right combination of button presses. There was even a programming error that meant some enemy sprites don’t load properly. This meant that some enemies appeared as Link’s friends, suddenly attacking you with swords or bows.
Again, this is a long shot but we’d love it if Grezzo were to incorporate some of these old glitches into the new game on purpose. It would be a lovely touch for fans of the series who remember finding and exploiting these mistakes the first time around.
Nintendo set a precedent for this, keeping the glitches in Pokemon Red and Blue when they were re-released for 3DS a few years ago. Reason enough to set our expectations unreasonably high? I think so.
