The Outer Worlds: 10 Ways It's Already Better That Fallout 4
2. Better Gunplay
Fallout's first-person gunplay has never really been a highlight of the franchise's later entries, and even though Fallout 4 tried to provide us with punchier shoot-outs, combat has never been the best part of a Fallout game. Thankfully, The Outer Worlds looks set to change that.
Not only do we seem to have a broader range of weapons to play about with, Obsidian looks to have worked on making combat more engaging than it ever has been in a Bethesda-style RPG.
As far as gun-play goes, we've already seen what looks and sounds like a satisfyingly powerful revolver or magnum, a combat rifle that most players are sure to become familiar with, and a host of melee weapons, none of which seemed to require the blind flailing common to melee runs of Bethesda's games.
It looks like combat is going to be a big focus in The Outer Worlds, and as such it seems there's been some serious time invested in making combat more meaningful and enjoyable. Fending off the hordes of alien life forms from across the galaxy should feel more like a treat than a chore, if the gameplay reveals are anything to go by.
