6. Simple Realism
Ever felt that Fallout 3 was too easy? Tired of feeling like an overpowered god instead of a lowly lone wanderer? So did the author behind Simple Realism, who set out to overhaul the difficulty of the game whilst remaining as close to the vanilla experience as possible. Without modifying any locations or items, Simple Realism manages to overhaul how you approach the game without getting too complicated. Proving that big things come in small packages, Simple Realism is less than 100KB in size, and yet still manages to drastically alter the feel of the game. Gone are the days of shooting raiders in the head twenty times before they go down, and vice versa. No longer will you bask in radioactive pools and jump off ledges without a care in the world. Oh, and you can forget about stockpiling mountains of supplies. Loot is rarer and your carrying capacity has been reduced. Weapons hit harder, damage resistance is more important than ever, and stimpacks now heal over time, just like Hardcore Mode in Fallout: New Vegas. Don't worry if any of that isn't your style. Due to its modular nature, certain features of this mod can be toggled on and off, allowing you to make a mod that fits your play style. Simple Realism is a must-download for any hardcore player looking for a challenge, or anyone looking to make the Capital Wasteland a harsher, more apocalyptic place.
