The Wars Of Gears Of War EXPLAINED
The Lambent Pandemic
On a scale of events, the Pendulum War brought humanity to its knees and the Locust horde damn near almost finished them off, but the Lambent pandemic threatened to consume both sides, alongside all life left on Sera. And remember: All of this came from human greed.
The relatively controllable Rustlung condition eventually grew too, under the surface of the planet to the point that there was nowhere safe to go. Humanity had to try to go into hiding or keep on the move, using ships like the CNV Sovereign.
This is where Marcus and the last of the COG would stage operations, but eventually, even the seas weren’t safe from the Lambent.
Effectively this universe's version of a zombie outbreak, Lambent absorbed all the bio-organic matter it came across, and turned the hosts into slaves. Much like the Hivemind connection Myrra had with the Locust, this time world domination was on the menu.
Falling back to Anvil Gate, the end was near for everyone.
One Colonel Hoffman made a final stand at this old COG base as Delta Team, lead by Marcus Fenix, fought their way to Pinnacle Tower to find the Adam Fenix, even though he was meant to be dead. He was rumoured to have the means to finally stop Lambency after all these years.
Adam's device, The Imulsion Countermeasure Weapon would go onto stop the Lambent once and for all, but also take down the Locust as well, sealing them in a near-indestructible crystallised coating. As a result of his exposure and the Lambency with inside him, Adam would also succumb to the weapon.
In a last gasp of defiance, Myrrah gloated of his death saying that Adam was only good for creating doomsday weapons, and with that, Marcus stabbed her with Dom’s knife, killing the former Queen.
This finally put an end to the conflict, and now humanity had a tomorrow.
