The Witcher 3: 10 Best Secret Areas You Need To Visit

8. Ghost Ships

The Skellige Isles are awash with mythology and monsters unlike anywhere else in the game. But perhaps the most notable part of this area is the miles and miles of stormy seas separating each of the islands.

Other than a handful of sunken treasure littered throughout these waters there’s no obvious incentives to set sail on a nautical expedition. In fact, with fast travelling between the islands being far faster and a lot more practical than slowly sailing between them, it’s likely that you’ll want to spend as little time in the water as possible. The less time shaking harpies off the hull the better.

Being so vast, though, it shouldn't be surprise to learn that the developers included a secret out here, too.

If you set sail around 1a.m., you have a chance of spotting a majestic ghost ship emerge from the water and glide through the sky before returning to its watery grave. The sighting of this event was so rare that the developers included it in a series of tweets celebrating The Witcher’s 11th anniversary.

To glimpse this ghostly sighting, your best chance is to sail in the eastern waters between An Skellig and Hindarsfjall.
