The Witcher 3: 10 Rare Weapons You Totally Missed
6. Winter's Blade
Winter's blade is easy to miss simply for the preamble.
There's only one way to obtain Winter's Blade, in that it's given to Geralt as a gift by Crach an Craite after completing the main quest Brothers in Arms.
There's a slight catch, however. No matter how nice you are to the ol' Jarl, he won't cough up the sword unless you've helped his kids first. That means doing all the quests for Cerys and Hjalmar respectively. Which is a lot of hours.
Having said that, Winter's Blade is probably worth it. As a steel sword with the armour piercing trait, there's not a bandit camp on the map that won't collectively fill its breeches when you walk over the hill wielding this atom smasher.
As well as that, Winter's Blade is somewhat special in that it has the ability to freeze enemies innately, meaning you can use the two rune slots for some other ability.
And, despite being a steel sword, this freeze ability is an excellent counter to some of the quicker blighters you'll come up against, meaning you'll be able to freeze a monster in it's tracks, before whipping out your silver for some real damage.
