The Witcher 3: 10 Rare Weapons You Totally Missed
2. Mastercrafted Wolven Swords
These swords not only have in-game requirements, but out of game as well.
To get the Wolven set, players must download the free DLC piece that adds the set to the game. To upgrade that to mastercrafted gear, you have to have completed the Armourer's quest, which, unless you want to get stomped on by a pack of angry Dwarves, requires you to be around level 25.
Fortunately, the DLC is free and the quest is relatively short, so don't feel too overwhelmed by all the prerequisite steps.
The Wolven swords are some of the best in the Witcher schools, and given the fact that they can be upgraded to grandmaster level in the Blood and Wine expansion, they make for some great endgame weapons.
Both swords can be conveniently found in Velen, the steel off the west coast inside a shipwreck, and the silver in the Crones' bog inside a dead tree. So not spooky at all then.
Being a DLC add-on, both swords visually stand out in a way not found in the base game, so consider getting these if you're sick to death of looking at the same four stock sword assets appear on Geralt's back for fifty hours straight.
