These Video Game Ultimate Weapons SUCK!

2. Soul Edge - Soul Calibre

These Ultimate Weapons SUCK
Namco

If you play Soul Calibre for even the smallest duration of time, you'll know that everything revolves around the power of the Soul Edge, a mythical, sentient weapon that offers the wielder ultimate power at the cost of their individuality.

Over the years many have tried to lay claim to this weapon, either in an effort to destroy it completely or challenge the demonic force within and attempt to wrest control back and use the weapon to rule the land. It all sounds pretty bloody epic right?

And to be honest, it is, and the design is one of the most striking I've seen in ages. Hell, it's like carrying William Burkin into battle what with that big old eye on it. Although before you start trying to wield this sword yourself which you can do in nearly every Soul Calibre/Edge game, you might want to get your eyes tested as if you look closely this blade is a bit of a bad choice.

For a start, while it is wickedly powerful when it comes to boosting the players attack stat, it comes at the tradeoff of draining your HP, meaning that it's very possible for the sword to kill YOU before you can even damage your enemy. While this is in keeping with the weapons desire to consume all, it's not very bloody practical. Imagine taking it to the shops and passing out in the tinned food aisle. Hardly the worlds mightiest warrior are you?

Secondly, and this is probably more pertinant, nearly every character has a weapon that is BETTER stat wise than this, meaning that all of this questing and narrative focus, is on a weapon that is inferior to at least 10 other ones. I don't know how it's possible to be that incompetant at your one sole defining feature.

That would be like me claiming to be the worlds greatest hair model!
