THIS Is The Perfect Red Dead Movie

6. The Director

Red Dead Redemption Emily Bluny Sadie
CBS Films

Everyone likes to say, "Oh, Quentin Tarantino should direct this! Oh, Guillermo del Toro should direct that!" That's great, but let's look at directors who would realistically do it. Let's look at directors who aren't Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino or Christopher Nolan. We've got three good options:

Wind River director Taylor Sheridan (pictured) has shown us that he can handle morally gray characters and complex, emotional narratives, all while making the environment feel like a character in and of itself. A western that grapples with morality, mortality, and redemption would be right up his alley.

We've also got Matt Reeves, who has shown that he can make a chimpanzee one of the most compelling characters we've seen on screen in years. He's not afraid to dip his toes into pop culture, so he wouldn't view a video game film as being beneath his station.

James Mangold would be another solid pick. The man has directed one true western (3:10 to Yuma) and one sci-fi western (Logan). He knows what makes the genre tick, and he's able to bring incredible pathos to his films.

Any of these three would bring us one hell of a film. Who gets your vote?
