Tomb Raider: Ranking Every Game From Worst To Best

10. Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation

As IGN said it best in their original review, “[The Last Revelation] feels like the gaming equivalent of dusting off old photos and staring at the faded pictures"

Indeed it does, and that’s far from a bad thing, because after so much time in the jungles and cities, Lara was brought back underground to the tombs, arguably more tombs than ever before.

The Last Revelation also did something new with its storytelling, giving Lara personal motivations for her treasure hunt by having to race against her former friend and mentor, Werner Von Croy, for the pieces of the Armor of Horus, after she accidentally frees the evil Egyptian god, Seth from his tomb. This all made Lara not the her for the first time, and instead the cause of the problem, Ocarina of Time-style.

Featuring emotional intensity like never before, an un-winnable fight against the unkillable Seth, and even a level set on a moving train (if you ever wondered what the train chase from Uncharted 2 might look like on the PS1, this game has your answer), The Last Revelation is a love letter to the adventurer in all of us.
