Tomb Raider: Ranking Every Game Worst To Best
5. Tomb Raider Legend
Tomb Raider Legend isn't only the best of the bastardised middle-child trilogy that came courtesy of a combination of the PS2 and Xbox 360 - with Anniversary and Underworld succeeding it - it's essentially a belated revision of everything Angel of Darkness should've been. And if this game was released in its stead, then Eidos would've had more than momentum selling their titles.
This game is a bonafide, underrated classic that came at a time where the series' time in the limelight was seriously dwindling, and as a result - despite it being ported to a boatload of consoles - nobody really bothered to engage with it.
It's absolutely everything that came before, but bolstered and reinforced with no exceptions. There's vehicular levels that are still incredibly enjoyable today, an engrossing mix of platforming and puzzle-solving that have stumped players as much as they have immersed them and the game's pace is utter perfection.
Set pieces never occur for too long and are well aware of when they're beginning to overstay their welcome. The story isn't going to win any awards, but its vintage Tomb Raider down to the core of its anatomy, not only due to the sumptuous blend of fantastical elements mixed with a lot of realistic characters, and Lara herself feels like, well, herself!
Easily making Legend the last great game before the reboot(s) came along.
