No, don't worry, it's not open world - the dev-team are just insisting that players will be able to dip in and out of levels across both games easily without having to load each one individually.

In other words, they're not strictly separate.

Progress will carry over from one game to the other, and that'll allow players to quickly jump back in for "one more try before bedtime" of a level that they otherwise might avoid like the plague. This formatting will make sessions more accessible and encourage everyone to experience everything VV has worked on too.

It's a smart strategy, and it shows that the team are really thinking of what fans would want. They view these remasters as meaningful to their own studio's development, and they want to give players freedom to experiment with every single bit of them.
