UFC 4 Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

2. Online Modes (Blitz Battles And Online Championships)

UFC 4 brings with it two brand new online modes known as Blitz Battles and Online World Championships.

The former sees you enter a rapid-fire tournament where the rules are constantly changing, with you trying to beat your opponent in a best-of-three KO mode one moment and attempting to spark them out in under a minute the next.

The wonderful thing about this mode is the pace. If you do happen to fail (which I did on a couple of occasions, admittedly) you can quickly dive into another tournament and get going again. If you just want a quick online run against a few explosive opponents, this online mode is definitely the one for you.

For those who prefer to test their all round skills as a mixed martial artist against the cream of the crop, though, we give you the Online World Championships.

The key thing to note here is that weight classes alternate... which has pros and cons.

On the one hand, it gives players the chance to test themselves in different classes and perhaps use fighters they wouldn't normally opt for given the choice. Yet, on the other, if the division in question is a bit thin (Women's and Men's Flyweight, for example) it can become a little tiring facing the same top star over and over again.

But, if you have the chance to pick Valentina Shevchenko... you understandably will pick Valentina Shevchenko, right?

But, there's no questioning the mode puts you up against the real online elite and it's a fairly brutal proving ground for those who are feeling brave enough to step out of their Blitz Battle or Career Mode comfort zones.

Whatever online category you fall into, UFC 4 has you covered.
