Uncharted 4: 10 Essential Things That Must Happen

10. Extended Approaches To Combat

One of the best things about the core gameplay of Uncharted is that notion of your path through the level mimicking what Drake would improvise together in his mind at the time. Sprint over to a guy with a rifle, awkwardly land a few punches to pry it from his fingers, then whirl around and taking out a few more, before darting back behind cover to lob a grenade as Nate himself is remarking on just how cobbled together the entire thing feels. In the Playstation Experience footage, one of the biggest standout moments was the debut of a rope you can use to attach to specific mantle points, the swinging off of which in the demo led to Drake superman-punching a guard from mid air. Although this does open up quite a few awesome possibilities, the fact that the prompts to use this are contextual does go against that scrabble-for-success nature of playing Uncharted - at least on face value anyway. As long as there's more to be debuted in terms of the core building blocks that make up your progress through the levels, it'll ensure U4 doesn't end up feeling like glorified DLC, as did part three.
