Uncharted 4: 10 Suggestions To Avoid A Total Misfire
6. Less Supernatural Elements
Unfortunately supernatural elements have become a bit of a recurring theme in the Uncharted franchise; first there was the Nazi zombies (Descendants), then there was the Yeti-like creatures (Shambala Guardians). In the third game at least Naughty Dog made the supernatural element just a hallucination in the form of the Djinn flame-headed demons. In other words, these sequences (which started out as an effective surprise/twist in Drakes Fortune) have just become a bit predictable and unoriginal. Not only is the idea of supernatural enemies a repetitive one but also looking back on the previous Uncharted adventures these moments are never actually highlights from their respective games. Most players would agree that the last few chapters of Uncharted 2 which feature the Shambala Guardians are actually the least enjoyable/memorable parts in the game. When looking back on that game, everyone remembers the amazing jaw-dropping opening with Drake perilously hanging of the edge of a cliff or the fantastic Locomotive train sequence, but its genuinely surprising how many people seem to have completely blocked out the supernatural guardians. Sure, these sequences do add some variety, most notably with how the original Uncharted's Descendants provided an initial sense of horror, as well as switching up the gunplay through them charging at the player. However, the need to switch up the gunplay is more a fault of the series' shooting mechanics being simply suitable but nothing special.
