Back at PlayStation Experience in 2015, Sony and Naughty Dog debuted a new Uncharted 4 cutscene, revealing that dialogue options would feature in the series for the first time. Users will be most familiar with this mechanic with its appearance in Telltale's The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Borderlands; it allows the player to influence the outcome of a particular scene and to a certain extent, perhaps change the ending of the game itself. Developer Naughty Dog haven't truly clarified whether Uncharted 4 will offer a similar system, of if the options presented to Nate will simply be throwaway quips, witty one-liners or unimportant sentiments. The aforementioned PSX cutscene appeared to be a way for the player to vote on their favourite Uncharted game, prompting Nate to tell that particular story to his long-lost brother, Sam. Uncharted has always told a linear tale, with one specific start point and one specific ending. To alter that format at this late stage would almost feel cruel, and would rob players of that one, definitive story that will be remembered for generations to come. Nathan Drake deserves a single send-off from the team that started his tale over ten years ago, and anything less would almost feel like a betrayal.
Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
