4. The Rope-Swing Mechanic Advances Combat Significantly
"There are slopes to slide down, a rope you can use to swing across expanses, a piton that must be forcably smacked into surfaces to gain purchase and occasional access to a jeep in bigger areas. All of which combine to create a feeling of actual exploration with multiple routes and paths." - Leon Hurley, Gamesradar
Far from a pointless addition thrown in for some glitzy pre-release footage, Uncharted 4's beta showed that the rope-swing ability factored perfectly into combat from the get-go.
Leaping off embankments and using it to cover great distances just feels right as a natural extension of Nate's moveset, and as the many combat encounters favour verticality and experimentation in how you approach, it's an initially subtle change that grows to mark out A Thief's End as a worthwhile instalment in the franchise.
