In our world, the final solution for any potential wars involves using the complete devastating power of nuclear weapons, which have not been used in combat since World War II. But for Warhammer, nukes just don't get the job done well enough.

Enter the Emperor's final solution to any conflict involving the Imperium of Man, Exterminatus. Exterminatus involves using all kinds of world-destroying weapons to wipe clean any battlefield that Imperial soldiers and navy officers cannot win.

The tools of Exterminatus range in devastation from orbital bombardments, biological virus bombs, literal Cyclonic Tornadoes that can crack planets in half, and also using nearby moons as cheap world enders. The results of any of the Eterminatius weapons is the same, everything living on the planet is killed in weapons that can be seen all the way in space.

Thankfully the use of Exterminatus is incredibly rare and often viewed as a serious war crime, as the loss of resources and habitable human worlds is viewed as unacceptable. Yet there have still been hundreds of worlds that have been hit by the varied forms of Exterminatus, wiping out billions of lives including innocents who could not escape the flames of war.
