Warhammer 40K: 10 Worst Things The Imperium Has Ever Done

5. Removed All Other Religions

Serving the great God-Emperor of the Imperium of Man seems to be the sole religion the men and women that live inside the borders of humanity's empire believe in.

This blind faith in the sole Emperor of Man is pretty well deserved, as he's powerful enough to use his psychic powers as a beacon across the galaxy for humanity's massive fleets to use for warp jumps between systems, going wherever they are needed.

However, this belief system in the God-Emperor means that there is no room in the Imperium for any other form of religion. The religious cults that worship the Emperor have several rules that they must follow and essentially means the Imperium uses their belief in the God-Emperor as a political brainwashing system.

At first, this religion seems to be rather nice, especially since everyone is allowed to worship the same God-Emperor and thus there are few internal religious conflicts. And to honor the God-Emperor all anyone has to do is help their homeworld or home town however they can.

But this religion also intensifies humanity's belief that all Xenos in the Milky Way are defiling the worlds they inhabit and must be eliminated with zealous fervor, which of course helps the soldiers fight on the battlefields with unwavering faith in the Imperium's cause for complete control of the galaxy.
