What Your Favourite Super Mario Bros Game Says About You

Super Mario Bros

Super Mario Bros 1The Game: Super Mario Bros wasn't the first platform game, but its probably the oldest platform game that you've played in the last five years. This isn't just because Mario has the best publicist and his games are the only retro ones available whether you like it or not, oh no, it€™s because even his oldest platform adventure is still just as playable today as it was back then. Nintendo certainly haven't got everything right over the years, but when it came to the platform genre they got it right first time. What does it Say About You: It's likely that if this is your favourite that you played this the first time round. You had your NES and you preferred the simplicity of this game over the extra power ups and backwards scrolling of games to follow. You still played the NES version of the game even though you had Super Mario All Stars on the Super NES. You didn't care that the only way to get it to load was by using an action replay cartridge and a lolly pop stick jammed in your NES to get the damn NES working without it blinking on and off. You were playing this game in its original form and that€™s that. That is until your NES finally gave in and was no more. With time you found new games to love and even started to think Mario 64 is actually the best entry in the series and then the Classic NES GameBoy Advance was released and for the first time in a decade you could indulge the true 8-bit graphics on a grey system with just two action buttons...because the shoulder buttons can go jump. Sound Bite: You can remake it and retell the story as many times as you like but Mario will also be the 8-bit wonder in my heart. Favourite Non Mario Game: Legend of Zelda

Hello! My name is David Pustansky. As well as writing for this site, I'm also an actor, presenter, writer, director and artist. So basically I love creative things where there's a story to be told. I run my own theatre company, The ImProDigies. Be sure to check our shows out. As I'm sure you'll see from my articles I often look into things with a unique and quirky perspective and have a strange attention to sometimes strange details. Enjoy!
