Why Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Is The Best Assassin's Creed

6. The Ambition, Customisation And Creativity

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag was released in October 2013, just eleven months after Assassin's Creed: III, but remains one of the most ambitious games ever released in the series. It obviously benefited and polished off the experimental naval combat and gameplay mechanics first introduced in games prior, but that shouldn't take away from the sheer amount of ambition it brought in its world design and customisation.

Never before in the world of Assassin's Creed had a game developed such a huge and diverse world, allowing players to jump from the deck of a brig, land in the middle of a lush forest, scale to the top of an ancient Mayan temple and then slide into a small fishing port, all without one single loading screen.

Black Flag also stands out for its ambitious amounts of customisation. As well as the staple inclusion of various outfits and weapons, allowing for players to pick and choose a play style that suits them best, Black Flag introduces a whole new world of customisation through the upgrades, levelling and changes players can make to the Jackdaw.
