Why Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Is The Best Assassin's Creed

3. The Extra Stuff To Do

One of the most important features of an open world game is the stuff players get to take on alongside the main storyline. Great games such as Skyrim or Red Dead were stacked full of extra side characters, missions and collectibles that helped put both of their respective storylines to the back.

However, few games in the open world genre come close to match Black Flag for bonus content. As well as the Assassin's Creed staple features of synchronisation points, animus fragments, chests and assassination contracts, the game introduces a whole plethora of new content for players to sink their teeth into.

From harpooning great white sharks and humpback whales, swimming through sunken wrecks, storming secret pirate coves or finding lost treasures for new outfits and upgrades, Black Flag has enough content to make up three different games.

Of course it helps that the naval combat in the game is so addictive too. Perhaps the only Assassin's Creed game where players won't be hunting for the nearest fast travel point to get from point to point, Black Flag really knows how to reward the fans who put the extra hours in.
