Why Elder Scrolls Will Always Be Better Than Fallout
5. Time
Whilst Fallout has the opportunity to establish completely new things as the games progress because of its freshness in comparison to the reams of Elder Scrolls content, it’ll be much harder to do without the right foundations. TES can throw us across timeframes, dimensions, and cultural belief systems in whatever way it chooses from having in-game years (and years, and gosh dang YEARS) of fascinating lore to delve through.
Don’t get me wrong, Fallout has this in abundance as well, otherwise it would be a pretty shallow game; but the high fantasy of games such as Oblivion or Skyrim lend themselves to a larger, more intricate tapestry to weave into, which can only serve to make a rounded series easier with each entry.
There's less establishing time for fans of the series for Elder Scrolls, whereas each new place needs to be contextualised before we can dive into Fallout.
All this leads to much more of a barrier between Fallout's initial complexity and The Elder Scrolls' breezy systems, which play into which you find more engaging from the outset, and which will grab your attention when the new releases drop.
