Wii U: 9 Hotly Anticipated Games That Actually Make It Worth Buying
4. Pokken Tournament
A Pokémon fighting game? It might seem absurd at first, but give it some thought and the genre mash-up actually makes total sense. One half of the main entry Pokémon games may be all about the training, exploration and story of each individual world in any given iteration - but the other is all about beating the living snot out of other people's Pokémon with your own. Pokken Tournament distils the latter into a beat 'em up without the RPG trappings and it's being developed by the geniuses behind the Tekken series, no less. If you're fortunate enough to be living in Japan, then all you have to do is merrily skip down to an arcade (yeah, they still exist outside of Europe) to play the brawler, but everyone else is going to have to wait until 2016 for a Wii U release. Contrary to what you might expect, there's no rules on which Pokémon you can expect to see feature either. The roster of characters looks to be made-up primarily of fighting-type pocket monsters like Machamp and Lucario, but there's a wide range of contenders to choose from - including Gengar and the legendary Suicune. Yes, you can even use Mega Evolutions. The child inside me is already gibbering with excitement.
