Wii U: 9 Hotly Anticipated Games That Actually Make It Worth Buying
3. Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water
Never heard of the Fatal Frame games? Not to worry, all you really need to know is that the series has a cult following - outside of Japan, at least - among survival horror fans as being the ghostly-equivalent of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. If you love either of those franchises to death and have yet to play a Fatal Frame title: you need to remedy that like, right now. The supernatural-themed, overarching narrative of the series has a certain air of authenticity about it not seen in its contemporaries. The use of a 'camera obscura' technique - the forerunner to the modern camera - lends an incredible artistry to its storytelling, so much so that you'll often times feel like you're playing a video game that was somehow actually made in the 1920's. It's been a good few years since Western gamers have been privy to a brand new Fatal Frame title, but the wait is worth it. Maiden Of Black Water exhibits the same unique brand of Japanese horror that usually confined to cinematic exports. The Ring? The Grudge? Pfft, you don't know Japanese horror until you've subjected yourself to a Fatal Frame game.
