The Witcher 3: 8 Reasons It's The Game Of E3

2. A Mature RPG

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCKQcshNph0 Those who played the Witcher 2 will know that CD Projekt RED is no stranger to pushing the envelope when it comes to RPG storytelling; in fact, the second game was perhaps one of the most mature and gritty RPG experiences in the history of the genre. Speaking of which, in a genre somewhat dominated (especially early on) by the influence of Japanese culture that showcases impossible hair and over-the-top action, the Witcher series stand out amongst the pack due to its ability to strip all of that back and deliver an emotionally-involving tale that's much more engaging and relatable thanks to a great physics model and a world of repercussions. This trend seems to continue in the Witcher 3. The trailer above (released just before E3), shows the dramatic tones of the world, with death, blood, sex and ridiculously-detailed characters all thrown into the mix for good measure. It's a tone that's set to make the experience a hopefully memorable one and one that proves that games can be more than just a throwaway thrill-ride. The only fear with this aspect is that the storyline will get lost amidst the open-world exploration aspects of the game. How many of you didn't touch most of the storyline in Skyrim until about 50 hours in because of exactly that? Exactly.
