WWE 2K15: 10 Alternatives You Need To Check Out

3. WCW/NWO Revenge - Nintendo 64

Any wrestling gamer needs to get their hands on an Nintendo 64. Some of the titles that are available for the console stand the test of time compared to their modern day counterparts. WCW/NWO Revenge was the best offering from WCW which a number of WWE games also hit the spot. Released in 1998, Revenge's intro was in keeping with World Championship wrestling as a whole as it made very little sense. A truck is driving down a rainy road and is brought to a halt by a silhouette with a bat. The driver lets out a pathetic 'what' and sting points the bat at him as he stands in between two flaming tombstones, one with his own name on and the other with Hollywood Hogan's. Very weird. Revenge's gameplay is very advanced. WWF's No Mercy and WrestleMania 2000, which were made by the same company, have many of the same features, making WCW's title a bit of a pioneer. There are three main match types: Championship, Exhibition and Special while there is an option to change any superstars' attire, if you don't like it. WCW's previous title, World Series, was generally well received but this game took things to a whole new level. There were a series of improvements that are still used in wrestling games today, improvements such as: The wrestler's ring entrances, a larger roster, ringside valets and managers, brighter and more colourful graphics, a referee modelled after WCW referee Mark Curtis, and real TV and pay-per-view arenas. In addition, the gameplay was improved tenfold as it was quicker than anything we had seen prior while reversals were included for the first time. The superstars are sorted into groups including: NWO Black, NWO Red, Raven's Flock and WCW's 1,2,3 and 4. The smaller guys like Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero were relegated to pot four which was bound to have created some heat at the time. Smaller details like tall wrestlers stepping over the top rope, being able to run and slide in and out of the ring and instant replays were included and the ability to take weapons from the crowd makes Revenge better than 2K15 in a number of areas.
