WWE 2K17: 10 Things That Must Be Brought Back

2. General Manager Mode

General Manager mode didn't stick around too long in the old Smackdown series, but it provided a lot of fun for the time it was a feature. The idea of assuming control of a brand and seeing what you could achieve with it appealed to many, and it's startling that more wasn't made of it as the years rolled on. Perhaps developers feel the Universe Mode is the next best thing. Not many would agree with that assessment, there's little to become invested in with Universe Mode. Year upon year, it has been a constant waste of precious disc space. The idea seems sound at first, but quickly digresses into an endless stream of matches with little actual story to back them up. It's a poor substitute for customising your own roster and working diligently to outdo others. General Manager mode was almost like Extreme Warfare Revenge (a popular text-based wrestling business/management simulation developed by Adam Ryland) lite. The idea was simply begging for further expansion, but it only lasted for 2 games. Introduced for Smackdown vs. Raw 2006, the idea was abolished in time for Smackdown vs. Raw 2008, replaced by the 24/7 mode. It'd be a credit to WWE 2K17.
