WWE 2K18: 10 Ways To Make It The Perfect Game

6. An Overhauled Engine

While the current WWE 2K game engine definitely has its plus points, it has been due a complete overhaul for several years now. The engine has allowed for a deep level of simulation-based gameplay that was unthinkable in the past, but there are still times when the action feels slow, clunky, and stunted. Few things would enhance the 2K experience like dragging the dated engine into the present day, and while the developers tend to make a few minor tweaks every year, that isn’t enough anymore.

Animations are largely identical regardless of who you’re playing as, hair physics are atrocious, and the engine still can’t handle more than six characters on-screen at once. These are far from the series’ only technical shortcomings, and while they may seem like minor issues on their own, they become a bigger problem when compiled together.

It’d take a great deal of time and effort for 2K to pull-off a complete overall, but it’s something they can’t afford to delay much longer. Other sports franchises are putting them to shame at the moment, and while it’s extremely unlikely that the developers will ever face serious competition in the wrestling games niche, the series’ lack of technological progress is embarrassing.
