If WWE 2K18 were to be released tomorrow, Raw’s most popular tag team (The Hardy Boyz) wouldn’t even be in the game. While the developers always add a host of new faces every single year, they’re usually at least several months behind when it comes to the talent pool, resulting in a game that feels outdated from the moment it hits the shelves.

The situation has improved in recent years, but it’s still a problem. 2K appear to cut-off on new roster additions around WrestleMania season, so if a superstar debuts after spring, they probably won’t be in the game. The developers claim they need this time to capture animations and recreate the likenesses of each individual wrestler, which is understandable, but disappointing nonetheless.

Even if 2K can’t include recreate every single roster member in time for release, what’s stopping them from making new additions through free patches and updates? Most fans want an accurate representation of the current WWE landscape, not an outdated time warp. It’s a lot to ask for, but making this improvement would help 2K maintain its relevancy throughout the year.
