WWE 2K18: 7 New Features You Need To Know
3. There's A Shiny New Graphics Engine
WWE games still feel like they're using the same engine and templates as the old SmackDown vs. Raw series, so it's welcome news to hear 2K are rebuilding the graphics engine for 2K18. It's high-time guys like Brock Lesnar started looking like snarling, muscle-bound beasts rather than melted candles.
Hair is a particular sticking point for most gamers too, so it'd be nice for that to match the flowing locks we've seen in other titles like Tomb Raider, Uncharted and even 2015's The Witcher 3. There's no excuse for poor graphics in the sports genre either, because games like PES and 2K's own NBA franchise feel lightyears ahead.
It's not only character models that are getting a coat of paint though. The overall presentation should take a leap up due to 2K focusing on everything from arena lighting and new camera cuts to the actual crowd themselves. Replacing those generic puppets who move like an ocean rather than individual people would be a start.
