WWE 2K18: 7 Things You Can Learn From The Game’s First Footage
3. The Entrance Routines Are Still The Same
One thing Lynell Jinks stressed was the amount of hours 2K put into building 2K18 from the ground up. Bizarrely, the developer video then ran a side-by-side clip of Randy Orton's entrance routines from 2K17 and the new game. They're almost exactly the same, graphical improvements aside.
If the game had truly been built from the ground up, then wouldn't there be slight differences? We understand that 2K want to make their WWE games a simulation, but some of these protracted (and frankly dull) entrances have to go. THQ mastered the length in Here Comes The Pain; there's no need for entrances to be longer than 30-45 seconds. They should be fun to watch.
Maybe Randy was a bad choice, because it's not as though his real-life entrance is all that exciting either. Still, it is obvious to see just how much the new lighting rig helps add atmosphere to these introductions. Rather than a pre-rendered model strolling through a sea of lesser-quality polygons, Orton feels much more attached to his surroundings.
