WWE 2K18: What The Reviews Are Saying
8. Commentary Is The Same Old Detached Nonsense
Good news: there's no JBL this year. Bad news: the commentary in WWE 2K18 is still as detached and random as it has always been. The initial excitement of hearing that Corey Graves and Byron Saxton would provide new voices to listen to has been dampened by the news that announcing remains a major problem in the series.
Until 2K are given ample time with WWE's announce team, this won't change. Sadly, most players may find themselves switching commentary off after a few matches. It's just not good enough that phrases repeat quickly, sometimes even during the same match. If EA can master this in FIFA and Madden (and 2K in their own NBA series), then there's no excuse good enough for fans.
WWE video games should have a commentary system that tells the story of their match in 2017, not one that occasionally registers the right move or feels disjointed. As depressing as it is to say, announcing hasn't moved on one bit despite the fresh injection of Graves and Saxton.
