WWE 2K19: 10 Awesome Features That Must Return
6. An Arcade Gameplay Style
The beauty of older games like No Mercy and Here Comes The Pain was that their gameplay felt intuitive, balanced and never strayed too far into simulation at the cost of player enjoyment.
2K19 needs to find harmony between gameplay elements that reflect what fans see on WWE TV and what is entertaining to do in video games. They haven't been able to do that for years, and the "realistic" dial needs turning down; nobody is advocating a return to All-Stars or In Your House, but 2K18 was a sluggish wrestler.
Mixing some arcade-style gameplay, or at least giving gamers the option to play with faster, less-oppressive controls would go a long way to boosting the fun factor in WWE games again. Alternatively, if 2K don't want to include choice, they can find their own balance between arcade goodness and sensible realism.
Kicking steel chairs into someone's face shouldn't result in players wrestling with character positioning or contextual attacks.
