WWE 2K19: 10 Awesome Features That Must Return
5. A Button-Mashing Kick Out System
It also shouldn't be scary whenever the CPU goes for a pin fall two minutes into the match.
The current kick out system relies on player concentration instead of maddened button-mashing, and it just fails to feel urgent. If anything, it's frustrating to tangle with a mini-game that necessitates looking away from what's happening in the ring. The wrestlers themselves should be the focal point, not some poorly-explained distraction popping up on screen.
Frantically tapping buttons does feel archaic, and yet it's the only way wrestling games can mimic the frenzied escapes near falls are supposed to be about. Looking at a little meter filling up, whilst simultaneously keeping one eye on the button 2K wants you to press, isn't as frenetic.
It's annoying that kick outs in 2K18 have less to do with player damage and more to do with luck in the heat of the moment. Hopefully, 2K19 will include the option to kick out by mashing buttons, even if that results in broken controllers and sore fingers.
