Or, if 2K want to keep Universe Mode in, why not make it a bit more riveting?

An entire generation of wrestling fans have grown up jotting down their own matches with a notepad and pen, creating their own storylines and envisioning their own living, breathing WWE product. This desire to play God is part of the fun, and it should be key to Universe Mode's appeal.

Everything is right there at 2K's fingertips. They could easily gift players the power to play booker, let them decide who wins each match before it happens (without playing through every single one to get the results they want), use their own star-rating system to push working good matches over winning as standard and add in Commissioner or General Manager figures to justify each decision.

The possibilities are endless here. There's zero reason why gamers can't have full autonomy over every aspect of their Universe after spending hours setting it up. Think Adam Ryland's Extreme Warfare Revenge series and you'd be on the right lines.
