WWE 2K20: 10 Improvements It Must Make On 2K19
6. Simplified Controls
Before sitting down to play a "quick" game of 2K19 with a friend, it's important to get up to speed with the contextual controls on offer. Anyone who has tried to explain how to perform a springboard drive to the outside to a pal who hasn't played the past handful of games will know the frustration it causes.
We'd like to see 2K take a page out of EA's book and look at the excellent work they're doing with their FIFA series; in the brand new footy title, players can switch to a simplified one-button control scheme that favours hand-holding over supreme knowledge of skill moves, defensive tackles or different shot styles. It works a treat.
Would that work in a WWE game? Maybe/maybe not, although it'd be very much worth a go for 2K to find out first hand. Right now, getting to grips with all the different environmental attacks and strategies (including Payback triggers, mini-games and more) is challenging, and it kills any pick up and play element.
