WWE 2K20: 10 Things To Know Before You Buy
6. Universe Has Minor Tweaks
There's no point in sugar-coating it: Universe mode is pretty boring.
It's a sub-par replacement for that genuine WWE superstar story idea discussed earlier, and the sandbox elements aren't exactly fully-fleshed. It's more of a guided tour through some cutscenes and pre-set storylines than a true, customisable world. 2K are determined to make it work though, and that's why they've tweaked some things.
In 2K20's Universe, pay-per-view cards have doubled in capacity from seven matches to 14, you can now run four rivalries per show, and 50 of the "most-used" cutscenes have been reshot with female mo-cappers to look more authentic when women are involved. On that note, 2K are adding 25 more cutscenes to the library.
3,040 new promo lines have been added there, and the overall system has been streamlined to make it more accessible to newcomers. This is all fine, but it doesn't really alter the fact that Universe can be a hollow experience.
