WWE 2K21: 10 Most Wanted New Features

2. WWE Party

Another option open to 2K and Visual Concepts is piggy-backing other popular gaming franchises.

Mario Party is a riot with friends and family. It manages to fuse simple board game layouts with bite-sized mini-games everyone can pick up and play, and it's the kind of thing that could get granny Jess playing with little Johnny after a Sunday lunch. OK, that's such a stereotypically British example, but you get the point.

Nintendo's series is for everyone, and it's easy to get to grips with. 2K's WWE series, meanwhile, isn't, and it doesn't even attempt to appeal to a casual market. That's a mistake. It might be time for 2K to go in a daring new direction and include some sort of mode "for the kids" that actually ends up delighting adults into the bargain too.

Ripping off Mario is one way to do it. A WWE-style board game look would be fun (there it is again), and 2K could flex their creative muscles to come up with interesting mini-games. Suddenly, backstage brawls and Royal Rumbles would become more lively.
