WWE 2K21: 10 Ways To Save A Dying Franchise

3. Lean On Nostalgia Again

Recent Showcases in WWE 2K19 and 2K20 focused on the career of Daniel Bryan and the blossoming boom of female wrestling by way of the 'Women's Evolution' movement. Both were fun, but they were modern examples of WWE lore and lacked that classic nostalgic flavour older Showcases did.

Nostalgia, to be blunt, is pretty much everything for some gamers.

There are 2K players who don't really watch a ton of WWE's TV output these days. They pick up these games religiously and expect to see a raft of legends on the roster they can play around with. Showcases on the Attitude era, Steve Austin and more fed that sense of history, and they let lapsed fans in on the gaming fun.

Due to the fractured relationship they currently have with their core audience, 2K should seriously think about banking on old-school money once more. Some sort of WCW Showcase may work, or they could examine the solo careers of traditional stars like Hulk Hogan, Goldberg or Triple H.

Old school is cool.
