2K Battlegrounds wasn't a perfect arcade brawler by any means, but it did do one thing very well: 2K managed to eliminate over-contextualisation as a general rule. Basically, within minutes, most who picked up the game could have a good time with it and pull off most of the bigger moves.
Making it easier to pull off insane spots or "OMG" moments should be high on 2K's priority list. These games have suffered from nagging control scheme issues for too long now. Again, it's a video game, so nobody wants to study endless button prompt lists to find out how they can blast opponents through a table.
That's a waste of time - it always has been.
The good news is that Gilmore and his team are a fan of 'golden oldies' like Here Comes The Pain, Shut Your Mouth and the like. Fans are hopeful that they'll learn a thing or two about instant gratification by revisiting those classics.
