The Olympic Gold Medalist's return to WWE came as a welcome surprise when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Even more welcome was his return to the ring and to the video games as part of WWE 2K18's pre-order bonus. Sadly his digital run ends this year with Angle not part of the main roster.

Angle was officially retired by Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 and became a producer for Raw in the following months. He was released in April 2021 as part of the infamous "budget cuts" but made appearances on SmackDown and NXT after the fact.

What makes Kurt Angle's omission so unusual is the Rey Mysterio showcase as he was part of at least 2 major matches in the masked marvel's career. The first was at Summerslam 2002, where the two put on one of the best opening matches in PPV history, and the second was at WrestleMania 22 where Angle defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Rey and Randy Orton.

Being in WWE games for several years now it makes no sense to suddenly omit him, especially this year.
